The eTrex is Garmin's "beginner's GPS receiver" with simplified features and controls and offering the lowest weight under 6 ounces and the small "shirt pocket comfortable" size. The eTrex Summit, in the same package, has a number of new and unique features. The Garmin eTrex Summit is an upgraded eTrex package with the addition of a built-in electronic compass which shows your receiver heading even when you are not moving. An altitude profiling system will show a profile of your elevation movement along your route of travel. The altimeter and GPS altitude are constantly filtered to provide the best measure of altitude. All key controls are on the sides, leaving the front area free for display and antenna. The eTrex LEGEND and VISTA are Garmin's latest in the low cost eTrex line. These models offer a MAPPING capability for both MapSource and MetroGuide maps. The Legend/Vista is the first of Garmin's new product line to offer built in (WAAS) which improves position measurement accuracy. The VISTA and VENTURE models offer more and less functionality then the mid range LEGEND. Garmin's RINO-120, and 110 RINO is an acronym for "Radio Integrated with Navigation for the Outdoors". The GPS itself is "akin" to an eTrex Legend, but with changes and feature additions. Two or more users with RINO GPS/Radios can turn on their units, transmit and view on the GPS screen the location of other RINO users who share the same radio frequency.
