Central New York’s landscape was sculpted by glaciers and shaped by history. Ice sheets carved deep notches like Labrador Hollow and Hoffman Notch, while colonial roads and Native trade routes followed natural passes through the Mohawk Valley.
Unlike the High Peaks of the Adirondacks, CNY’s mountains are rolling, forested highlands with sudden cliffs, waterfalls, and panoramic lookouts. Hike Vroman’s Nose for Revolutionary War views, explore the hanging valley at Tinker Falls, or ride the Adirondack Scenic Railroad into the foothills. These are the ridges and gaps that defined travel for centuries.
